Colors/Patterns/Borders

The Color Scheme panel in the main window gives you a quick preview of the current album design. You can tailor the look of your album either by selecting one of the named color schemes (themes) in the dropdown, or by setting the design options individually:

  • Text Color
  • Text Background Color/Pattern
  • Page Background Color/Pattern
  • Borders

Custom color schemes can be saved for easy future use. Additional design options are available in the Options window.

Text Color

The first link in the Color Scheme panel brings up the window "Text Color". Simply click a color from the palette or create a custom color by adjusting the Red/Green/Blue values or the Brigthness value. In the preview panel you can see sample text in your selected color.

Text Background Color/Pattern

The second link in the Color Scheme panel brings up the window "Text Background Color/Pattern". You can select color and pattern independently; the preview panel shows you exactly what your selected color/pattern combination will look like.

  • In the "Color Palette" tab, you can either pick a color from the palette or create a custom color by adjusting the Red/Green/Blue values or the Brigthness value.
  • In the "Pattern Library" tab, select a pattern by clicking it, or if you prefer a solid background, just click the "Solid Color" button. You can also add your own custom backgrounds to the pattern library by clicking the "Add..." button. To remove a custom pattern from the library, right-click it and select "Delete This Pattern" from the popup menu.

You also have the option to not pick a specific color/pattern for the Text Background, and instead clicking the "Transparent" button; this will make the text display directly on the Page Background.

Page Background Color/Pattern

The third link in the Color Scheme panel brings up the window "Page Background Color/Pattern". Selection of color/pattern works the same way as described above for the Text Background, with the exception that there is no option to use a transparent page background. Additionally, there is an extra tab "Page Preview" that simply gives you a large view of the preview panel.

Borders

The dropdown "Borders" just below the Color Scheme panel offers four different settings: None, Thin, Thin/Shadow, Thick/Rounded. An immediate border preview is included in the Color Scheme panel. Borders and shadows are automatically color-matched to blend in with your selected background colors.

Saving Color Schemes

The program comes with a set of pre-defined color schemes, but you can easily customize this list:

  • To add a custom color scheme to the list, first pick the desired colors/patterns/borders, then use the menu item "Tools - Color Scheme - Save", and specify a new color scheme name
  • To modify an existing color scheme, you follow the same steps as when adding a new color scheme, except you specify the name of the existing color scheme you want to overwrite in the "Save Color Scheme" window
  • To delete a named color scheme, first select it in the dropdown, and then use the menu item "Tools - Color Schemes - Delete"

If you want to create a new album with the same design as as an existing album, but you haven't saved this design as a named color scheme yet, just open the existing album first (which sets the design options accordingly) and then click "New Album" in the toolbar or in the File menu.
